Shannon and Glen (April 2011)
Hello,
We
were fortunate enough to get Lucas from Shannon and Glen's
April 7th litter and could not be any happier.
In just the few months we have had him we are amazed at
his intelligence and the speed of his learning. He literally
stares right at you when you talk to him, you almost expect
him to say something back. We knew border collies were
extremely smart dogs but WOW!
He is gorgeous and we love his markings....hoping he keeps
part of his pink little nose. He has a terrific personality
and demeanour.
We have had numerous comments on how gorgeous, smart and
friendly he is. Several people have asked us where we
got him from so we have provided the website.
Our vet has had 2 border collies before and she has checked
out your website (possibly looking for one in the next
year), she absolutely adores Lucas. He has a great bill
of health, very strong and healthy.
I have enclosed a few pictures of Lucas (nee Paddy). He
is between 3 and 4 months in them.
Thank you again and we will continue to recommend Bur
Hill Border Collies.

from Shannon and Glen (December 2009)
Hi Russ & Tracey...
Since we are celebrating Skye's first birthday today I
thought it was a good day to send you a few pictures and
let you know how wonderful she is doing!
She is not only a beautiful dog on the outside but brings
such joy and fun to our house. She is SO smart and we
love showing off all the neat tricks and commands she
is learning. Almost everyone in town knows her - I have
even had people call out to her as they drive by in their
cars!
She loves to go for nice long walks in the Conservation
Area (and chase the squirrels!) and as long as she has
a tennis ball nearby she is a happy girl!
Thank you for taking the care and attention to breeding
the puppies you do - you can certainly see your devotion
and love in the dogs that you produce and it shows in
how wonderful the puppies are.
Our family is so much better with Skye here and we look
forward to a long and fun-filled life with her!
All the best to you and the girls!!

Hi
Tracey, Russ and girls,
Just
wanted to let you know that we are very happy with Guinness.
He and our 2-year old golden retriever Hartley get along
very well as you will see from the attached pictures.
Guinness has settled into his new home very easily and
has learned to do many things; sit, down, come, paw. We
love the border collie moves that are beginning to show
up in his behavior. All our friends and neighbours continually
comment on how calm he is. Housebreaking has gone well.
You have all done an amazing job of breeding and socializing
your pups and it is very evident in Guinness. We'll keep
you posted from time to time about his progress.
Thanks,
Jane and Gord

Dear
Tracey and Russ,
Mattie (now Wicca!) is doing great – we had a fun
weekend with her in London and she met all her new in-laws.
Wicca was a real hit.
She is great with Carolyn, a credit to your daughters
of course. Please thank them for being so playful with
your puppies. Wicca is getting along wonderfully with
Diesel, our 3 year old BC. The two have become almost
inseparable. Her crate training is also going well, as
you can see in the photo of Carolyn in the crate with
Wicca standing guard...hmm
All our best,
Robert, Louise, Carolyn, Diesel …and Wicca
August
2010 Update
Dear Tracey and Russ (and your girls), Just
a quick update on one of your former pups. Wicca (nee
Mattie) turned three today, 35 pounds, and just an absolutely
delightful, affectionate companion. She is friendly with
everyone 2 and 4 legged, and is healthy and happy (well,
her tail seems to always be wagging and she rolls on her
back for kids at the park). She and Diesel get along famously.
We have a great neighbourhood canine community with lots
of off leash socializing and play on a large field by
the river, summer and winter (well lit from an ice rink
that gets built on part of the field). The park includes
a children's play area and wading pool (out of bounds
for dogs but they can stay close by), which means there
is always lots of activity around them.
You
certainly have placed many dogs over the years. One has
definitely made us happy and proud to have her part of
our family.
Hope
this finds you all well,
All our best,
Rob, Louise, Carolyn, ...Diesel, and of course Wicca. |

Hello Tracey, Russ, and Girls,
Thank
you for your note. Kuinn is doing wonderfully. She has
been spayed. She had no problems with the spaying and
recovered quickly.
Kuinn
has become a wonderful addition to our family. She is
energetic, happy, and VERY intelligent -- perhaps a little
too
smart for her own good! We have also found a wonderful
Vet that we feel very comfortable with. After she settled
into her new environment, we enrolled her in Puppy School
for her basic training. The entire family attended the
workshops to ensure we were all using the same commands.
Of course, Kuinn did great.
As
requested, here is a recent photo of her. I actually just
took it this morning. She was having a hard time deciding
between a stick and her ball, so, she chose both!
Thank
you for writing to us. I had planned on sending you photos
of Kuinn around her first birthday, so your email was
very timely! We hope to keep you up-to-date on her progress
from time to time.
Hope
everyone is well. Enjoy the photos!
Christine,
Kolin, Kate, Kampbell, Kooper, and of course, Kuinn

Hi
Tracey,
Bree is doing wonderful. She's been enjoying the summer
playing Frisbee with her friends then going for long walks.
The weather has been somewhat cool so it's perfect for
long walks. Bree still greets people by rolling over for
a tummy rub.
What
has really surprised me was Bree's instant love of the
water at the lake. There was no hesitation what's so ever
about going into the water. She loves to go swimming after
her Frisbee. I purchased a small pool for her to play
in when we're in the city.
When
Bree isn't playing, walking and/or swimming, she loves
to watch the bunnies, squirrels and the neighbor's cats
from her spot on the couch. Another activity Bree loves
is to dig holes in the lawn and garden. If only she could
help dig up the weeds.
There's
always a smile on Bree's face and cuddles for everyone.
She's certainly one happy little girl.
I
noticed the Orijen dog food on your website. Bree is now
eating this kind. She's filling out nicely and has really
curly hair on her little caboose.
Take
care.
Pat
August
2010 Update
Hi Tracey,
Bree and I are both very well and I hope you and your family
are likewise. Bree has been everything your web site stated
she would be and more. She’s a wonderful family member
who loves everyone yet maintains the border collie instinct
with a reasonable amount of drive. The on/off switch works
very well. It’s truly amazing how Bree can ‘settle
down’ within seconds of being asked. My vet says Bree
is the most calm and relaxed border collie he’s met.
I’m enclosing some recent pictures and an update for
Summer 2010. Bree is now one of the best Frisbee players
in the park. She graciously shares her Frisbee (and her
water) with all the other dogs. Bree is a favorite with
the neighborhood children and manages to get by on as many
tummy rubs as she can. Strangers are friends in short order
if they past the sniff and tummy rub test.
Bree likes to eat her Orijen dog food, plain yoghurt, veggies
and fish treats. This little one has no fear of fireworks,
hail, thunder and/or lightning. She’s sensitive and
cares for the needs of those around her. Kisses and cuddles
are readily shared. She’s very alert and there’s
always a twinkle in her eyes as she discovers new things.
You can just see her mind at work.
The weather has been hot and very humid with lots of rain
and mosquitoes. We’ve been playing Frisbee and going
for walks later in the evening when the wind picks up. The
rain hasn’t stopped us from our long walks. We’re
looking forward to spending more time at the lake in August
where Bree enjoys swimming. Our hiking trips for fall/winter/spring
will start in September. Bree enjoyed our hiking trips at
various provincial parks last year.
Bree is truly a wonderful companion who makes everyday fun!
Bree receives many compliments which makes me so very happy
to own such a lovely dog.
Take care,
Pat |

Hello Bur Hill!
Since it is Lexi’s first birthday today
I thought I would drop you a note to let you know how
things are going. She has added so much to our family
and has become very important to us. We have all learned
a lot from her and she certainly has learned so much as
well. She is beautiful, energetic and picks up new tricks
so very quickly that it is a challenge to keep her challenged
but she seems to be happy and has settled very nicely.
We are certainly very fortunate to have her as part of
our family.
We have kept in touch with her brother Kasey and have
made plans to get the dogs together again this summer.
They really do enjoy that! I’m sending a picture
we took of her recently on a walk on the trails here in
town.
Have an awesome day!

Hi
Russ and Tracey,
Just a quick note to let you know how "Nick"
Danny Boy is doing. From the first night he went into
his crate at bedtime. No whining or whimpering at all!
I take him out at 2 or 3 and he pees immediately and goes
right back into his crate and to sleep. In the morning
he waits quietly until I get him up between 7 and 8. He
loves my mother's lab. The lab is patient with him and
growls when she has had enough of him, and he backs right
off. He is really enjoying her large
backyard.
I'll send pictures, soon. I'm sure you have your hands
full with your new puppies.
Please tell the children we appreciate the good care they
took of “Nick”. He’s a fine boy!

Then they bought a pup from Nellie and Roy (June
2009)
Hi Russ and Tracey,
We are thrilled with McGee! He's a wonderful dog and learns
very quickly from Danny. Danny plays a game where he stands
at the top of the stairs and throws the ball down the
stairs to me. McGee stands in between now, catches the
ball, and throws it the rest of the way. It's amazing
how quickly he catches on when he sees Danny do something.
Housetraining was a breeze.
I've attached a couple of pictures ...
Thank you for two exceptional dogs!
Cheryl

Hello Russ and Tracey,
I just wanted to send you a quick email and tell you
how Maggie May (nee Emma) is doing down here.
In a word, WONDERFUL!!! She is without-a-doubt incredibly
smart and was easily house-trained. Our family loves
her like crazy and we have to take turns playing with
her. She has a unique personality and every day is a
new experience. She had her second set of shots 2 –
3 weeks ago and, except for having some worms, which
were taken care of with a little bit of medicine, she
checked out in excellent health. Our vet explained that
in some cases, panacur does not kill off all worms and
gave her another type of medicine which does. It definitely
did not affect her weight or appetite as she has more
than doubled in size.
Maggie has already learned quite a few tricks, including
shake a paw, high five, sit up and beg, roll over and
play dead. I even taught her to wipe her feet when she
comes in from the rear yard, which our visitors find
quite amusing. She is a huge part of our family and
we love her like crazy!!! We’re still trying to
get that nipping thing under control, which I understand
is inherent in BCs.
I hope all is well with your family.
Kindest
regards,
Bob and Trish and family
Hello Tracey and Russ,
I hope all is well with you and your family. You may
recall that my wife Trish and I purchased a black and
white female Border Collie - Maggie May (nee Emma),
born September 9, 2009 to Cindy and Roy. Maggie May
was successfully spayed on April 14, 2010. She is our
absolute pride and joy and I cannot tell you just how
much she is loved by our family. She is incredibly smart
and already is trusted enough to have the run of the
house. Although high energy and always wanting to play,
she does indeed settle down when told to. I have trained
her to “heel” and she never leaves my side
until I release her.
Thank you very much and kindest regards,
Bob and Trish |

Hello
Russ and Tracey.
Molly has turned out to be a wonderful pet and companion
for me. She has been to two different sessions of
puppy obedience classes and is now halfway finished
her puppy agility classes. She is wonderful with kids
and all the neighbourhood children love to play with
her and baby sit her when I go out and leave her behind.
She is also a big hit at the seniors' home where my
mother lives. We visit her a few times throughout
the week and all the residents come and want to pet
and cuddle her. She has a wonderful gentle personality
that people seem to recognize instantly.
Thank you so much for allowing me to take her home
with me.

Geoff and Denise and family in Ottawa who have a pup
from Cindy and Roy (Sept 2009)
Hi
Tracey and Russ,
We're
writing to give you an update on Petey (formerly Luke,
of the Sept. 9 litter). He's doing very, very well.
He's currently in puppy kindergarten and (at least
on some nights) he's the star of the class. He's getting
about 4 or 5 walks/ plays a day, spends lots of time
in the dog park, lots of time learning, and is growing
like a weed. He's huge in fact: big paws, broad at
the shoulder, and our vet predicts he's going to be
a big boy. He's also become a neighborhood character.
As I think I told you before, we live just around
the corner from the school that our sons attend and
where my wife Denise also works. The boys have a recess/
lunch break from 1:45-2:15 and they are coming home
to walk him during that time. When we first got Petey,
the principal and the school's secretary (who are
dog crazy) convinced us to allow the boys to bring
him back to the school at 2:15 when they returned.
And since then he has spent almost every afternoon
from 2:15 to 3:30 in the school's office, being taken
care of by the principal and secretary, hanging out
with the kids, going for walks from class to class,
and becoming something of a school mascot.
Thanks
so much,
Geoff,
Denise, Isaac and Gabriel
